ASC Central is the training and resource platform from Ambulatory Healthcare Strategies — built and taught by people who run and advise real surgery centers, not by generalists writing about an industry from the outside.
What ASC Central is
ASC Central brings together in one place the training, compliance tools and reference material that ambulatory surgery center leaders need to run a centre and stay survey-ready: leadership bootcamps for administrators, directors of nursing and business office managers; recorded and live conferences; infection control training; annual mandatory education for staff and providers; and The Survey Guide for ASCs with its appendices.
It is operated by Ambulatory Healthcare Strategies, LLC, and it is the home of The ASC Podcast with John Goehle, a weekly programme covering industry news, regulatory change and listener questions.
Everything taught here comes from people who have done the work — who have sat through the surveys, rebuilt the programmes that failed them, and had to make the numbers work afterwards.

John Goehle

Founder and Principal, Ambulatory Healthcare Strategies
John is a veteran ambulatory surgery center administrator and advisor with three decades in the field, and one of the most widely read authorities on ASC regulation and governance in the United States.
- Author of eight books on the ASC industry, including The Survey Guide for ASCs: A Guide to the CMS Conditions for Coverage and Interpretive Guidelines (2026 edition) and its companion Survey Checklist, and Ambulatory Surgery Center Governance.
- Host of The ASC Podcast with John Goehle, published weekly, covering industry news, regulatory issues and listener questions.
- A frequent speaker at ASC conferences across the country, and a regular partner of state ASC associations.
- Advises surgery centers on Medicare certification, survey readiness, governance, and the finance and operations side of running a centre.

Laurie T. Roderiques

Laurie supports surgery centers through accreditation, survey readiness and clinical operations. She holds dual specialty credentials as a Certified Administrator Surgery Center and a Certified Ambulatory Infection Preventionist — a combination that is uncommon, and the reason she can speak to both what a surveyor will ask and what it takes to run the programme being surveyed.
- Her instruction is grounded in real operating room experience, in navigating surveys, and in rebuilding infection prevention programmes inside working ASC environments.
- Works with centres on accreditation across the CMS-approved accreditors — AAAHC, QUAD A, The Joint Commission, ACHC and DNV.
- Registered nurse, certified perioperative nurse (CNOR), and a legal nurse consultant.
Teaches here: Infection Control 101 and Infection Control 201, the training built for the infection preventionist role and for CAIP preparation.
Sue Cronkite

Ambulatory Healthcare Strategies
Sue is a registered nurse who teaches on the credentialing and Medicare payment side of ASC Central. Credentialing and peer review are where a lot of centres quietly fail a survey — not because the clinical work is wrong, but because the file cannot show how a privilege was granted. That is the ground she covers.
- Co-presents the ASC Credentialing, Privileging and Peer Review conference with John Goehle and Ann Geier — a day and a half on building credentialing and peer-review processes that hold up to state, federal and accreditation surveys, with the forms included.
- Co-hosted the CY 2027 Medicare OPPS and ASC proposed rule briefing with John: the headline update, how ASC payment and the ASCQR quality programme actually work, and the procedure-level detail showing which cases gain and which lose.
Teaches here: ASC Credentialing, Privileging and Peer Review, and the Medicare payment-rule briefings.

CASC — Certified Administrator Surgery Center, the certification for ASC administrators. CAIP — Certified Ambulatory Infection Preventionist. CNOR — the certification for perioperative registered nurses. LNC — legal nurse consultant. MBA — Master of Business Administration.
